For years, our third-born son used this recipe to make pancakes for himself and two older brothers. Later, the littles arrived in the family and, eventually, the oldest of the group happily took over the job of flipping the jacks. Pretty much every Wednesday morning of pretty much every week of the year he served these pancakes to his younger siblings.

Feel free to add chocolate chips or fruit to this batter.

This recipe comes from one of our favorite books of Amish recipes, Miller Family Cookbook. One may tell from the worn and tattered recipe that this one has been well-used and loved.
