BLT Dip

BLT Dip

Yield: 8-10 servings, depending on what else is being served
My adaptation of a magazine recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ c. sour cream
  • 16 oz. can petite diced tomatoes drained
  • ½ t. garlic powder
  • ½ t. onion powder
  • 2 c. chopped iceberg lettuce
  • cooked bacon for garnish chopped
  • 2-3 bags bagels of your choosing white, wheat, onion

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients except last three. Stir well and allow to marry* in the refrigerator for several hours.
  • When ready to serve, stir in all the lettuce and transfer to a nicer, cleaner serving bowl.
  • Garnish with bacon and serve with bagels that have been nicely torn into smaller pieces.

Notes

Notes: *Did you know that “allow to marry” means to allow the flavors to mix and
mingle in a mixture? This step can be crucial in many recipes and this is one of those
recipes.
Grocers sell bags of shredded iceberg lettuce which make this recipe even more easy to
prepare. If time is an issue but money is not, pre-cooked bacon may be purchased as well.
This dip doesn’t hold very well as a leftover due to the lettuce. Plan this dip when plenty
of folks are around to enjoy it or scale it down to serve as many as desired. One
consideration is to add lettuce to the amount you plan to serve, reserving the rest for
another time.
