Welcome to Heritage Ways, Welcome Home. I am Mrs. Katie and I am truly thankful to be sharing my passion of homemaking and cooking with you and your audience.

It’s time to bring back time-honored homemaking and homesteading skills, would you agree? In a world of technology and advancements, folks worldwide are scrambling for the ways of their ancestors. A return to a less complicated lifestyle and more peace and joy seem to be the goal for individuals and families across our Nation and the world. I hear from these folks on a daily basis through, ironically enough, technology. They are seeking and searching. They are hungry to learn the ways of their grandmothers and grandfathers. While the modern world relies heavily on technology, the yearning for personal instruction hasn’t waned.

I desire to not only teach and train homemakers using the technology of social media and the Internet, but through the cookbooks and ebooks I have written. My deepest passion is to teach in person. How might we work together to encourage and support your audience at an in-person, live event? I’ve brought the message of homemaking skills to small in-home groups, chapter and club meetings, and very large groups under roofs and event tents. Let’s create an event that will work for you and your audience.

What Folks are Saying About Heritage Ways Classes and Events

With her charming Southern accent and her friendly demeanor, Mrs. Katie entertains, educates and delights our customers. We have worked with her for several years and she is organized and offers great ideas. From in-person teaching, to writing to video production, she delivers because she has a passion for teaching homesteaders and homemakers! — Glenda Lehman Ervin, former Director of Marketing, Lehman’s, Kidron, Ohio

We at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market are pleased to write a review on behalf of Mrs. Katie of Heritage Ways. First and foremost, Ms. Katie loves what she does! Her enthusiasm, ability to connect with her audience with humor, and valuable knowledge keep her audience engaged and wanting more. At a time when home cooking has been replaced with fast food and food preservation is only a relic of our past, her homespun manner highlights the value of these most precious homemaking skills, and it is not just for women! We look forward to our continued relationship with Ms. Katie and her skill sets, which highlight our Market’s mission, which is to make locally-grown fruits and vegetables and locally-produced meats, dairy, eggs and baked goods available to the entire demographic of our community. — Respectfully Submitted, Mark McKenzie, Co-Founder and Chairperson, Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market

In attending Miss Katie’s class I was able to ask questions in open setting without feeling like I should be sitting quiet and not speaking. She is very warm, open, funny and very personable, going through things step by step explaining her little secrets and the do’s and don’ts. Not only does she share on the specific topic she is teaching about, but she also has other opportunities to learn other areas through out her teaching such as “how she dries her herbs” or “why she prefers one spice over another”, also sharing where you can find a specific utensil. She does this all while encouraging the people in her class to not fear trying new things and to be adventurous. When I was debating on teaching my own class she encouraged me to share my knowledge and help others to learn. — Jen, northeastern Ohio homesteader

Mrs. Katie is authentic and relatable. I love it when people aren’t afraid to share their real life, blunders and all. She does that while sharing so much valuable information. — Diligent Homemaker in Pennsylvania

Mrs. Katie is an excellent instructor who is sure to involve her audience in all her teachings. She is knowledgeable and fantastic at explaining everything to her class attendees in a way all levels can understand. It is always a pleasure working with Mrs. Katie and she makes public outreach and education a breeze! — Kayla, Lehman’s in Kidron, Ohio

What a fun class! I learned so much and Mrs. Katie is a fun teacher. — session attendee at Kentucky Sustainable Living Festival 2025 (Home Dairy classes)

Katie is great. She should have her own comedy cooking show. — class attendee in Pennsylvania (Cast Iron Care & Cookery class)

Mrs. Katie of Heritage Ways is a wealth of knowledge to any inspiring homemaker. Whether in-person at local events or online through social media, she takes the time to connect with you on a personal level. To provide you with the support you need in your journey as a homemaker. I have had the privilege of joining Mrs. Katie in-person for a cast iron cookery class, where she shared how to identify quality cast iron and proper care. Two things that hindered me from using cast iron in my own kitchen. — Whitney W., mid-Ohio homemaker
